1 *) Ea quae ipse de codicibus disserui, pretiosissimis indiciis auxit G. Schneider (Wochenschrift f. klass. Philologie 1891 p. 677): 'Diesen AHL füge ich als zur selben Klasse gehörig noch einen Ricciardinus (Florenz) hinzu und den Claromontanus 1681, der einst im Gewahrsam von Cheltenham, jetzt in Berlin zugänglich ist. Er ist nach der dritten Gruppe korrigiert. Zu dieser rechnet Vogel FJKM. Mir war gestattet, die Claromontani zu benutzen. Ich will hier bemerken, dafs Dindorf [immo Wesseling!] durch die Bezeichnung mit K diese an sich wertlosen Codices heillos durcheinander geworfen hat. Es gehören in diese Klasse die mit den Nummern 1629 und 1632 bezeichneten. Der erste ist eine direkte Abschrift aus dem Venetus VII 8, der wieder aus F abgeschrieben ist.' P — Patmius codex saeculi X vel XI
The Notarum Explicatio (Explanation of Sigla) for Vol. III is identical to that of Vol. II, confirming the same manuscript constellation is used throughout. The key hierarchy: P (Patmius, 10th/11th c.) as codex optimus; A (Coislinianus, 15th c.) as the best representative of the a-family; F (Laurentianus, 14th c.) as the lead manuscript of the f-family. Schneider's German-language footnote adds critical new information: a Ricciardinus (Florence) and a Claromontanus 1681 (once at Cheltenham, now Berlin) belong to the a-family. Crucially, Schneider states that the Claromontanus 1629 is a direct copy of Venetus VII 8 (= M), which in turn was copied from F — collapsing three manuscripts into a single witness.
